Guidelines will change analgesic use for one in seven rheumatologists

The first Australian guidelines on management of pain in inflammatory arthritis will require a change of practice by about one in seven rheumatologists, the guideline authors say.

Local rheumatologists have issued ten new recommendations on analgesia, with the most controversial advice being on use of opioids, tricyclics antidepressants and NSAIDs in patients with GI co-morbidity.
