Healthcare needs to be at election forefront

The Australian Medicare Local Alliance, the AMA and the RDAA last week pleaded with the major parties to bring health to the debate as the campaign neared halfway.

Health-related promises have been confined to hiking cigarette taxes and extra money for blood-borne viruses and STIs.

The AML Alliance said Labor and the Coalition must set out plans to cut “huge and unnecessary” bureaucracy and show how resources could be reallocated to improve access.
