Helping hand in the Himalayas

The Langtang valley is situated near the Tibetan border and is a popular trekking region.

Despite the Nepalese government having previously established a village medical centre to service the area, it was closed more than two years ago meaning a trek of up to three days followed by a bus journey of up to 12 days to Kathmandu for those in need of hospitalisation.

While trekking in the region, Australian registered nurse Virginia Dixon was asked by a local organisation whether she could help to set up a clinic for the valley. Ms Dixon told MO
