How a little bit of supportive counselling got this GP over the line


Supportive counselling has fallen from fashion in general practice. 

It’s a bit out of date. P(M)aternalistic. Time-consuming. It’s what the patient’s mother or mate might offer. Nice, but not directive. A listening ear. Not evidenced based. Not Mindfulness or CBT or DBT or any other T.

I’m not so sure that the medical cheer squad lacks value.
