Independent star rating website trumps govt venture

The George Institute for Global Health’s site, uses the same calculation formulae that the government used for its system, which was removed from the web on Assistant Minister for Health Fiona Nash’s orders hours after it was launched last February.

But, instead of relying on food manufacturers to calculate the stars, the George Institute has used its own database which holds the nutritional details of more than 50,000 manufactured foods, explains Professor Bruce Neal.
