Mixed response to budget bowel screening announcement

Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer Wayne Swan announced on the weekend that Australians turning 60 would be offered screening from next year, with 70 year olds from 2015, thus achieving a five yearly screening program.

Biennial screening would be phased in from 2017-18 with all Australians aged 50 to 74 years eventually being covered, Mr Swan said.
