More chronic illness raises depression risk

It is well accepted that high rates of depression occur among patients with chronic physical illnesses. However, elucidating what drives the link between physical and mental illnesses is not straightforward.An Australian study suggests that it’s not what type of chronic illness a patient has that predicts the chance of also having depression, but how many illnesses, and how they impact on quality of life.
