More nurse practitioners wanted
A HUGE push to increase the number of training places for nurse practitioners is under way by the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP).
This year the college is making a concerted effort to lobby for advanced skills training to see more nurse practitioners in practice, and to see more nurse practitioners in different healthcare arenas. It specifically wants to target nurse practitioners practising in aged care, mental health and primary care.
ACNP president Helen Gosby said the aim was to open up specially created positions in advanced practice for nurses completing their Master’s course and to create more internships for those who have already completed their Master’s.
