Musculoskeletal burden is heavy for kids

Musculoskeletal disorders are a significant burden for Australian children, with almost a million problems managed a year in primary care, a new study shows.

A review of almost 78,000 child health problems managed in general practice found that about one in twenty (5%) was for a musculoskeletal condition, equivalent to 880,000 a year.

Upper and lower limb conditions were the most common musculoskeletal problems managed by GPs, followed by spine and trunk problems, according to the results ( published in
