New survey project investigates IMG challenges
A NEW research project that aims to discover the biggest challenges faced by IMGs in Australia is now seeking participants.
Devised by researchers at Monash University, the project will take a closer look at how IMGs adjust to the Australian health system, and which professional and environmental factors affect IMGs overall.
Linda Habeeb, lead investigator, said her previous research suggested that communication was a major challenge for IMGs, particularly when they worked within multidisciplinary care teams.
Isolation was also a problem, she added.
“This is also isolation in the context of not having contact with other IMGs, so there is no support group with which they are able to share experiences,” she said.
IMGs are being invited to participate in the project, which involves completing an anonymous online survey that takes between 20 and 30 minutes.
