New vaccination law rejected
The legislation was introduced as a Private Member’s Bill by Labor Opposition MP Jo-Ann Miller. A similar bill was passed in the NSW parliament in June.
The parliamentary report noted the bill could prevent access to early education for some, particularly in rural areas.
Of all submissions received, 59 of 64 opposed the bill. The Australian Natural Therapists Association, the Australian Vaccination Network, individuals and families were among those who made submissions.
