Optometry board defends guidelines
The guidelines, released in March, enable eligible optometrists to prescribe topical glaucoma treatments for patients diagnosed with chronic glaucoma without consulting an ophthalmologist. They also allow optometrists to write prescriptions for those deemed at high risk of developing the disease.
