Oral health shouldn’t only be for the advantaged
Dr Karin Alexander
President, Australian Dental Association
WHEN it comes to oral health, the same is true: all Australians are able to access dental care either through public sector schemes or private practitioners.
Sadly, public sector patients must remain on lengthy waiting lists when capacity exists for prompt service from a properly utilised dental workforce. Australia should not have two classes of dental care recipients. Those who suffer genuine disadvantage should receive optimal dental care. Governments need to focus on this group.
