Owler's oath: I'll listen to GPs' advice
“The strength of the AMA is that it represents a broad church,” Professor Owler said.
“I would hope GPs feel reassured that I’m working closely with the GPs inside the AMA, and that I’ve had no shortage of advice from general practitioners.”
As president, he hopes to elevate the role of the chair of the Council of General Practice, a position currently held by GP Dr Brian Morton.
Professor Owler has hit the ground running, picking up the fight against the government’s $7 co-payment where former president Dr Steve Hambleton left off.
