Pharmacists’ expanding scope of practice a public risk: RACGP

The college has flagged the public safety risks of pharmacists performing vaccinations, screening for cancer, managing mental illness and treating prescription drug dependence.

It says there is an inherent conflict of interest in pharmacists delivering general practice services, and that GPs should lead any multidisciplinary healthcare model.  

It also says task/role delegation is already served by practice nurses.
