Placements needed for student nurses

THE lack of placements for student nurses in primary healthcare is the biggest missing link in the education of nurses, an expert says.

Professor Jill White, head of nursing at the University of Sydney, told Primary Care Nurse the struggle to get nursing students clinical placements in primary care needed to be immediately addressed.

Backed by APNA and other university nursing faculties, Professor White wants the government to fund an incentive payment to general practices in an effort to boost clinical placements for nursing students.
