Poll backs bigger role for pharmacists

MOST Australians want pharmacists to play a greater role in patient care, preferably in the same location as their GP and with the GP kept fully informed, a poll shows.

A survey commissioned by the Consumers Health Forum has found 75% of people want to see pharmacists in broader roles in basic healthcare, such as immunisations and blood pressure checks, and working with GPs to help chronically ill patients better manage their medication.
