Primary chief rubbishes 'too many GPs' report

THE head of Primary Health Care has rubbished a report which claims an oversupply of GPs is forcing them to chase patients.

Peter Gregg says the report, published by the Australian Population Research Institute (APRI) this month, is unfair to GPs who "work hard to clear waiting rooms".

The report claimed that a 47% increase in GP numbers over the past decade - 2.5 times the rate of population growth - has undermined GPs' ability to charge
