Privilege blinds people to inequality
INDEED, a Guardian columnist recently suggested that one of my very own heart-throbs, Colin Firth, would be perfect to play Piketty, a professor at the Paris School of Economics, if a movie was ever made about his work. Piketty’s real achievement, however, is in making ‘inequality’ the talk of the town, from London to Paris, New York and beyond. Who would have guessed a 700-page investigation of inequality and capitalism, Capital in the Twenty-First Century, could become an international best seller?
