The problem with energy in, energy out diets
Energy in, energy out is too simplistic when people are striving for better health
IN a recent BMJ editorial, an appeal was made to label food with “the exercise needed to expend its calories”. At face value, this seems reasonable: eat that donut and you have to walk a kilometre to make up for it!
An understanding of the complexities of bioenergetics, however, shows how far off the mark this is. Couple it with the requirements for successful health promotion, and you see the trouble we have with
