Psychiatrists rile GPs with performance-based pay call

GPs have slammed a proposal for performance-based payments as a way of boosting the quality of chronic mental health care.

In a submission to the federal health department’s Primary Health Care Advisory Group (PHCAG), psychiatrists have indicated support for performance-based payments to GPs as a way to improve continuity of care for patients with mental illness.
