Public health threats need a national approach

Public health expert Professor George Rubin, from the University of Sydney, and other participants called for a coordinated national approach similar to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

“At the moment it’s still very eastern states-centric, particularly NSW, the ACT and Victoria,” he said. “As population and travel increases and we have apparent increasing numbers of outbreaks or emergency situations internationally, we don’t have a combined national approach, we’re still trying to cobble it together.”
