Push for generic medicines garners AMA support

The Generic Medicines Industry Association (GMiA) has claimed it has strong bipartisan support for its proposal to remove originator brands from the market once they come off patent in order to fully leverage savings to the PBS.

Under the GMiA proposal, originator brands would still be available after their patent expired and be branded under a generic brand name.
