Put junior docs back in community: GP groups

The Prevocational General Practice Placements Program (PGPPP), designed to encourage junior doctors to take up careers in general practice, was scrapped alongside GPET in the last federal budget. It ceased operation at the end of last year.

“[United General Practice Australia] UGPA unanimously believes that junior doctors — regardless of their ultimate choice of speciality — must have the opportunity to gain exposure to general practice as part of their training,” the alliance of seven doctor groups said in a joint statement.
