RACGP plans bigger role in fight against domestic violence

GPs would play a leading part in a national strategy against domestic violence under an RACGP proposal that includes Medicare rebates for victims and specialised training for clinicians. 

The RACGP is calling for the adoption of ‘family health treatment plans’ with rebates, similar to mental health care plans but with simpler requirements, so GPs can help domestic violence victims on a path to counselling, safety and recovery.
