RACGP set to bolster IMG supervision standards

The motion “that the RACGP develops or endorses appropriate standards for supervision of IMGs with limited registration working in general practice” follows the recent call for the government to consider an embargo on the importation of the cohort until greater supports were put in place.

The initiative, discussed during the college’s convocation session, also comes in the wake of an analysis by University of Melbourne researchers that showed IMGs were 24% more likely than their Australian counterparts to attract complaints to medical boards
