RACP accused of censorship

DYING with Dignity campaigner Dr Rodney Syme has accused the Royal Australian College of Physicians of “academic censorship of the worst kind” for yanking his invitation to speak at its annual conference.

The Victorian urologist says he felt honoured when he was approached in February to appear at the 26-27 May RACP congress in Cairns to give an address on “caring for those at the end of their journey”.

However, he says he had no intention of using the address to mount an argument for voluntary euthanasia
