Repeat offenders will be penalised: TGA

TGA national manager Dr John Skerritt last week told a complementary medicines conference the regulatory body would publicise and apply penalties and sanctions to companies that breached rules over efficacy claims.

The new rules would include banning traditional treatments from making any efficacy claims and instead forcing them to say a product was “used traditionally in Chinese medicine for the relief of coughs and colds”, he said.
