Reprimanded doctors can wipe slate

Doctors who were reprimanded five or more years ago will soon be able to have details of the sanction deleted from the public medical register.

For the first time, the various practitioner boards working under AHPRA have agreed to a policy of deleting reprimands if they consider they are no longer necessary to protect the public.

From 2 October, doctors will be able to apply to have the reprimand taken down, unless a tribunal has set a different time-frame.
