SA Health unable to guarantee all grads will land local training places

SA Health is unable to promise the state’s entire cohort of domestic medical graduates will find local training places beyond next year. 

The AMA says as of 2017 the number of medical graduates will swamp the state’s beleaguered health system, raising the prospect of domestic graduates joining international fee-paying colleagues as also-rans in the hunt for internships for the first time.

Professor Paddy Phillips, Chief Medical Officer at SA Health, says all commonwealth-supported graduates from medical schools in South Australia who applied for a
