Safe sex calls for porn film industry

THE porn industry desperately needs a complete overhaul to promote safe sex practices in the community, US public health experts say. 

Safe sex advocates and pornographers have joined forces, calling for mandatory condom use on film sets to encourage safe sex practices among viewers. 

The calls were prompted after the California Medical Association reported 2850 STI cases in 2000 adult film performers between 2004 and 2008 in Los Angeles alone.  

The association and other health organisations have advocated the implementation of state legislation to mandate safer sex practices within the porn industry.
