Script pad headed for history bin

THE humble prescription pad is living on borrowed time, according to experts, with the first generation of doctors who will never use a pen to write a script likely to be practising within five years.

The prediction comes despite official Medicare figures revealing the annual pad production rate has dropped by just 3.8% between the 2005–06 and 2009–10 financial years.
