Sharks apologise to sacked club doctor
Dr Givney, who worked with the NRL club since 1987, was informed in March that his services were no longer required following allegations that players were administered potentially banned substances and supplements during the 2011 season. Three other staff were also let go.
There was no suggestion that Dr Givney was personally involved in the administration of such substances to players.
In a statement, the club’s board said it wished to “publicly retract statements made by the club which may have caused damage to the reputations of Dr David Givney, Konrad Schultz, Mark Noakes and Darren Mooney”.
It said confidential settlements had been reached with Dr Givney and Mr Schultz, the clubs’ former physiotherapist.
