Stories of suicide reflect real life and death events

Researchers from the University of Tasmania and Sydney University reviewed 71 accounts of suicide in narrative products including books and films to assess what fiction reveals about drivers of suicide.

They found that references reflected suicide in the general community, with 12 examples of death due to mental disorder, 15 with mysterious circumstances and 44 motivated by social and situational factors.
