Support urged fot Bahraini doctors

THE global medical community has been urged to campaign for reversal of lengthy jail terms imposed by a military court on 20 doctors who treated wounded protesters during an Arab Spring-related demonstration.

Accusations include a claim that they used blood supplies to fake injuries among protesters.

“We honoured our medical oath to treat the wounded and save lives,” the doctors said after the court handed down terms of 5–15 years.

A retrial set for this week amounts only to an appeal, their lawyers say.
