Tackle racism through storytelling

He talks about how his grandparents did well with their sugar farm on the Queensland coast, and links their prosperity with the promising futures of his young daughters. He also tells them about how some hundreds of Aboriginal people were massacred on land near his grandfather’s farm in the mid-1800s. 

Dr Spurling, a GP and lecturer at the University of Queensland, says while his grandfather was not involved in this blood-letting, his family benefited from it, in that their prosperity was built from Aboriginal land.
