Three arguments against co-funded GP training
THE AMA has come out strongly against a government proposal to have practices "co-fund" GP registrar training.
The proposal was outlined in a draft Health Department document that was circulated to the AMA, RACGP and ACRRM and remains confidential.
In a statement on Tuesday, the AMA rubbishes the concept and says it is another example of the federal government "stepping away" from its core funding responsibilities in health.
The AMA says the plan will mean GP trainees:
- Will not be exposed to the breadth of practice that current GP training
