Ticking all the boxes
WHEN the federal government officially acknowledged for the first time this year that a Lyme-like disease exists in Australia, Lyme disease experts and advocacy groups conceded victory.
“It doesn’t sound like much,” said neuropharmacologist and founder of the Lyme Disease Association of Australia, Dr Mualla McManus.
“A lot of people were hoping for something more conclusive. But the truth is we still don’t know what we’re dealing with, so this is the best outcome we could hope for at this stage.”
