Tribunal to address PN work conditions
The Australian Nurses Federation (ANF) has tabled the action in an effort to bring practice nurses on a par with their fellow nursing colleagues and to gain consistency in pay and conditions within the primary health care sector.
Submissions are currently being made by employers, practice nurses and the ANF ahead of the hearing, which starts on 25 June.
The ANF said 90% of nurses in Australia had worked under collective bargaining agreements for at least a decade, and practice nurses were the largest group of nurses not part of the agreement.
ANF senior industrial officer Nick Blake said the wages of practice nurses were lower than their counterparts who had a similar education background and comparable responsibilities.
