THE writer, Bruce Wagner, reportedly penned the screenplay while he was working as a limousine driver at the Beverly Hills Hotel in the early 1990s, and one imagines him cribbing lines from his passengers in this bitingly sad satire of Hollywood and the pitfalls of fame, stardom, celebrity or lack thereof.

The connections between the main players is labyrinthine as young Agatha (Wasikowska) arrives from Florida and employs limo driver Jerome (Pattinson) to take her to the site of the former house of child star Benjie (Bird).
