10 new Choosing Wisely items of interest to GPs

THE second round of Choosing Wisely items have been released, advising doctors of tests, treatments and procedures that may be unnecessary and could cause harm.

In the latest round, 14 colleges, societies and associations - including the RACGP - have each come up with a list of up to five things "clinicians and consumers should question" relating to their area of expertise.

Ten of particular interest to GPs are:

  1. Do not take a swab or use antibiotics for the management of a leg ulcer without clinical infection - Australian Society
