5000 deaths a year due to Aussie climate change, PHAA claims

AUSTRALIANS will be culpable in the deaths of thousands of people worldwide from diseases amplified by climate change unless action is taken to curb greenhouse gas emissions, the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA) says.

Responding to the release yesterday of the Climate Commission’s Critical Decade report, PHAA chief executive officer Michael Moore said an estimated 300,000 to 400,000 people were already dying annually due to human-induced climate change.
