5:2 diet could be good for type 2 diabetes

The 5:2 diet could be a good alternative for people with type 2 diabetes who struggle to stick to traditional weight loss diets, according to South Australian researchers.

Their randomised pilot trial of 63 overweight or obese patients shows the 5:2 diet led to decreases in weight and HbA1c, with changes similar to those reported in patients on continuous energy restriction diets.
