6 keys to treating rheumatic disease in pregnancy

New guidelines for drug treatments during pregnancy and lactation for patients with rheumatic disease have just been published by the British Society for Rheumatology.

The Society is concerned that patients are being taken off some treatments needlessly because of safety concerns, when in fact the evidence suggests that the treatments are not harmful. This may allow an increase in disease activity during pregnancy which may itself be harmful to the pregnancy, they caution.
