7 key points from the new testosterone prescribing guidance

THE Endocrine Society of Australia has released a position statement on testosterone.

Part one is published in the MJA today.
- Pathological hypogonadism confirmed by hormonal tests (total T, LH, FSH) is the only condition for which there is good evidence of a benefit of testosterone replacement therapy
- Mass spectrometry is most accurate and preferred over immunoassays
- Pathological hypogonadism can present in many ways including psychosexual symptoms or unexplained osteoporosis, anaemia or reduced muscle mass
- Evidence is lacking for
