ACE inhibitors may protect against ALS

Researchers have discovered that angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors may be protective against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Their population-based Taiwanese study looked at over 700 people newly diagnosed with ALS between 2002 and 2008 and matched them with nearly 15,000 controls.

The researchers found people taking a lower dose of an ACE inhibitor had a 17% lower risk of developing ALS
