ACL patients unclear on OA risk

Doctors are failing to educate patients about the risk of osteoarthritis following ACL injury and reconstruction, say Australian physiotherapists.

Their study of 233 adult patients with an ACL injury found up to one-third (29%) mistakenly believed an ACL reconstruction would cut their risk of developing OA.

A further 36% did not know whether the procedure affected their risk of OA development or not.
