Adenosine-guided ablation improves outcomes

Using adenosine after ablation procedures for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and then carrying out further ablation if necessary should become routine clinical practice, suggest the authors of an international clinical trial.

Patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, whose dormant conduction is demonstrated using adenosine and who then receive targeted ablation, fare better across a range of outcomes, their international trial shows.

The trial followed 534 patients receiving ablation
