AF common in TIA patients too: study

Up to one in five transient ischaemic attack patients have atrial fibrillation, yet many leave hospital untreated for the condition, according to new findings.

The Swedish study monitored in-hospital continuous cardiac arrhythmia in stroke and TIA patients, revealing atrial fibrillation in around 19% of TIA patients and in 30% of ischaemic stroke patients.

As expected, AF levels in old age were even higher: for patients over
