AGW honours Melbourne gastroenterologist

Gut bacteria and immunological therapies are among the most promising avenues for IBD research, says Professor Michael Kamm, who has been honoured with the 2014 Distinguished Research Award from the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

“It would be nice to think there will be a cure, but we don’t know when that will happen,” says Prof Kamm (pictured), a professor of gastroenterology at the University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital.

The award recognises his outstanding contribution to clinical research into inflammatory bowel disease
